Charter Communications, one of the leading satellite/cable providers in the country has announced their plans to set-up their Northeastern headquarters in Henrietta region. Reports from several sources indicate that Gov. Andrew Cuomo will be there at Henrietta in order to help Charter with the announcement.

Sources also say that Charter is planning to add more than a hundred jobs at one of their office space, which is located off Calkins Road. Charter is planning to locate their operations into a 46,000-square-foot facility, which is located at Henrietta’s 100 Town Center Drive off Calkins Road. Further details regarding the job opening is expected be revealed in the announcement from Cuomo.

In a recent phone call, property owner Richard LeFrois, who is also the CEO of LeFrois Builders and Developers, confirmed that Cuomo will visit Henrietta and the announcement on the above mentioned plans will be made by Charter. “I was just over there making sure the place was clean. Charter is great, not only great for me but great for the entire area,” LeFrois said.

“It’s a big deal for Rochester. We are in a great location right there on (Interstate) 390 and the Thruway and we draw employees basically from the four directions,” he added. LeFrois also added that the company manages more than a few properties in the area, which houses approximately 3,000 individuals.

The building Charter is planning to move was earlier vacated by Pictometry. This site is located in the close vicinity of a facility, which is scheduled for shut down by Verizon Communications. This move has forced more than 650 people to move out of their state and some individuals even lost their jobs.

“In Rochester, we have to be aggressive and try to attract these companies and if they are here, we need to keep them here. We are not the cheapest place to do business,” LeFrois said. “When we get someone like Charter, or other companies that are growing in Rochester, we have to do everything we can to attract them and keep and make them happy. We’ve got to have a place for our kids to work and our grandkids.”

He further added that the building chosen by Charter Communications is capable of holding approximately 240 workers. Reports say that LeFrois has already ordered to start the renovation works to make the building look “like brand new.”
