Comcast Looking Into Their Workers Role On Multiple Vehicle Slide-Offs

Comcast Corporation recently announced that they are investigating the role of their employees in a series of accidents, which happened at an icy Indianapolis road. These accidents were recorded on a smartphone and it was later uploaded to Reddit. The video went on to become viral within hours and many customers shared their concerns about this incident.

In a recent statement, senior VP of technical operations for Comcast Cable, Ed Marchetti, said, “When I watched this video I was very concerned by what I saw. Our employees should always protect people and treat them with respect no matter what the situation. Safety matters most—especially in dangerous weather conditions like this.”

“We are actively investigating what happened when our technicians were on site to restore services during an outage and we will reach out to those who were impacted by this incident.” Marchetti added. “Within the next 24-48 hours, my team leaders will meet with our technicians across our company to use this as an example of how important it is to make everyone’s safety a priority in everything we do.

The video shows an Xfinity-branded truck which is parked along an icy road at the top of hill. One of the technicians was working with a box on one side of the ride while the other technician was sitting inside the truck.

A videographer and a concerned citizen pleaded the technicians to position the cones a bit further down the icy road so that the drivers emerging from the summit will have a lot more time to stop. The Comcast technicians remained indifferent even when some drivers who were going a little bit too fast ended up piling one after another.

On the other hand, the other technician responded by stating that they have placed the cones as per the law by spacing each one of them 10 feet for every mile of the speed. Marchetti added, “There’s no place for disrespect—treating people the right way is the only way to work.” Comcast has also promised that there will be no such incidents in the future.
