YES Network Returns To Comcast Channel Lineup

Comcast Channel Lineup

Comcast Corporation recently signed a long-term carriage agreement with Fox News. This deal marks the return of the most popular regional sports network, YES Network, to Comcast channel lineup, which was unavailable to Comcast cable subscribers in New Jersey for more than a year.

The previous deal between Comcast and Fox expired a few days ago. This urged both the parties to sign a new deal in order to continue their partnership. The recently signed agreement ensures that Comcast subscribers will not experience any disruption or blackout of Fox channels.

Even though both the companies have refused to share the terms and other details about this deal, reports from reliable sources claim that this deal will help FOX News to acquire over $1.50 per customer per month. Fox News is one of the most watched cable networks in the United States and it has millions of viewers.

The inclusion of YES Network is one of the major highlights of the recently signed deal. Comcast Corporations decided to drop YES Network from their channel lineup back in November 2015. Approximately 900,000 Comcast customers in parts of Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and New Jersey were not able to access the network as a result of this.

Comcast Cable Subscribers

Comcast had also claimed that their customers hardly watched the YES Network channel and they did not put much effort to bring back this channel to their channels lineup. On the other hand, YES Network was highly successful in increasing their rates to approximately $6 per customer per month from $5.36 per subscriber per month.

Reports from several sources indicate that the leading cable provider has not yet confirmed when their subscribers will be able to access this exceptional sports channel. Comcast Corporation might even wait until the Yankees game, which is scheduled to begin in the spring season, to include the YES Network channel in their Xfinity TV packages.

As per Comcast officials, “We always said that we would continue to evaluate whether there was a way to bring back the YES Network under terms that are consistent with our commitment to providing the best programming at the best possible price. Our year-end discussions with Fox gave us a chance to revisit this, and we were able to reach an overall agreement for Fox News Channel, 12 Fox RSNs, and YES Network that makes sense for both of us – and most importantly, our customers.”
