Comcast Corporation is one of the fastest internet providers in the country and the incredible service offered by the provider has allowed them to attract more customers over the last few years. Reports from several reliable sources indicate that Comcast is all set to increase their internet speed in the near future.
Recently, Comcast started to notify some of their internet customers that the download speed offered by the provider would be upgraded, as they are planning to improve their network and operations. Comcast subscribers, who have subscribed to Blast Pro and Performance Pro plans, will find that their internet speed have increased from 150 Mbps to 200 Mbps and from 75 Mbps to 100 Mbps respectively.
Comcast spokeswoman Leslie Oliver said, “We double the capacity of our network every 18 to 24 months. We’re ready and able to increase the speed. We can do it because of our network and operational readiness.” However, Comcast officials have stated that this speed boosting has nothing to do with the roll out of DOCSIS 3.1 technology.
Reports say that Comcast is planning to speed boost their internet service in their entire West Division, including Colorado, Wisconsin, Texas, Utah, Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, Minnesota, Kansas, California, and Arizona. However, Comcast has confirmed that subscribers, who are currently under low speed tier internet plans, will not be eligible for the speed boost. Customers, who receive an internet speed of 10 Mbps and 25 Mbps, will come under low speed tier internet plans.
Comcast subscribers, who subscribe to the Performance Starter internet plan, will receive an internet speed of 10 Mbps at just $49.95 a month, whereas subscribers under Performance 25 will have to pay $59.95 a month to get an internet speed of 25 Mbps.
In addition to that, the price set for Performance Pro internet plan is $79.95 per month, and that for Blast! Pro plan is $94.95 a month. The former plan offers an internet speed of 100 Mbps while the latter offers an improved internet speed of 150 Mbps.
“Nearly 90 percent of our residential customers have speeds faster than 25 Mbps,” Oliver said. Comcast Corporation will notify eligible customers in a few days, and users will be able to upgrade their internet speed just by rebooting their modems.
