Cox Communications Named As The Exclusive Wi-Fi Provider For UNLV

Exclusive Wi-Fi Provider

One of the leading internet service providers in the United States, Cox Communications was recently named as the exclusive Wi-Fi provider for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). This announcement came shortly after the signing of a 7-year sponsorship agreement between UNLV and Cox.

Reports indicate that the agreement between the two parties is to expand and update the current Wi-Fi network in the campus. In addition to that, Cox has also guaranteed that they will offer dedicated technical support to UNLV. Reports also confirm that the campus will set up an additional campus signage with a “UNLV – Powered by Cox” tagline.

The vice president of Cox Business and Hospitality Network in Las Vegas, Derrick R. Hill said, “As a longtime supporter of education in Southern Nevada, we’re very pleased about this expanded partnership with UNLV to increase the availability and performance of campus-wide Wi-Fi. Our expertise with large-scale Wi-Fi networks will help enhance the user experience for students, faculty, staff and visitors that encourages on-campus learning, interaction and productivity.”

Wi-Fi For UNLV

The recently signed sponsorship agreement is determined to boost and extend the existing Wi-Fi network in the campus. Reports further say that Cox is planning increase the number of Wi-Fi points to about 3,258. Cox Communications is planning to support the deployment of switch equipment and Wi-Fi access points. The internet service provider has promised that they will offer full-time engineering support to UNLV.

The UNLV senior vice president for finance and business, Gerry Bomotti said, “As UNLV continues to grow, it’s absolutely critical that our students have dependable, high quality Wi-Fi coverage wherever they are on campus. This agreement ensures that our students, staff and visitors will have access to industry leading technology, and it extends our naming rights partnership with Cox Pavilion and within the sports complex area of campus.”

The recent agreement between the two parties also named Cox as the naming rights sponsor, and it includes numerous naming rights privileges as well. Reports indicate that the “UNLV – Powered by Cox” tagline is going to be displayed as the rooftop signage at the Thomas & Mack Center, on their website, and in other places along the sports complex corridor of the campus.
