Time Warner Cable To Boost WiFi Hotspot Connectivity In Austin

WiFi Hotspot Connectivity

Time Warner Cable, one of the major cable and cheap internet service providers in Austin, has installed around 900 WiFi hotspots in the region. The executives said that they are planning the deployment of a hundred more of such connectivity hotspots across the region soon. This decision by the provider in making available the WiFi hotspots is seen a measure in bolstering the internet connectivity in the region.

Accessing these hotspots is free for existing Time Warner Cable internet subscribers. For non-subscribers, a sum of $3 will be charged per day for using this facility. The company has also announced its intention in making available these hotspots free during the Austin City Music Festival.

Currently, many of the existing hotspots are distributed around the areas near the Zilker Park, where the ACL festival is scheduled to take place. In order to handle the huge amounts of crowds anticipated for the event, additional equipment are installed in the premises.

In the previous year, about 75,000 people attended the ACL fest. Mike Roudi, Time Warner Cable’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Development said, “Austin is an ideal WiFi market… We put our hotspots where people live, work and play. It’s our goal to give Time Warner Cable high-speed data customers access to the Internet wherever they are.”

The company is planning to deploy about 1350 hotspots online in the Austin area by the year’s end. Other cities like New York, Kansas City, Los Angeles, and Charlotte have already been covered in the company’s hotspot provision program. There, the services have been particularly helpful for many customers in accessing cheap internet through such varied connectivity options of WiFi hotspots spread across many areas.
