AT&T® And FirstNet™ Progressing In Deploying Its Nationwide High Speed Network For First Responders

Nationwide High Speed Network

AT&T®, the fastest internet provider in the country, in collaboration with FirstNet™, has undertaken some crucial steps in delivering the nation’s first high-speed data and voice network to the first responders. Together, they will work in the quick deployment of the FirstNet™ across the nation for offering the US states and territories with the various individual State Plans. Experts believe that this proposed nationwide build out within the State Plans will enable the creation of huge employment opportunities while also enhancing the level of investment in the states.

The State Plans are expected to be delivered three months prior to the scheduled date. The rapid deployment of this technology is a noteworthy achievement for the two organizations. With this network, there will be an overall upgrade and improvement of the public safety communications while also equipping first responders with crucial technological devices. This will significantly assist them in saving lives as well as the protection of the communities.

Mike Poth, CEO of FirstNet™ stated, “With this step, we’re ready to deliver the first nationwide network for public safety, by public safety. This network will drive innovation, security, and interoperability for public safety across the country. It’s what EMS, fire and law enforcement spent years fighting for and need right now.”

It is to be noted that FirstNet™ has specifically focused on making available the network to the needs of the states, territories, federal authorities, and public safety communities by closely working with them.

Chris Sambar, senior vice president of AT&T®-FirstNet™ said, “When we announced our public-private partnership in March, we committed to begin building this unprecedented network and technology ecosystem for public safety later this year. Later begins now. States, territories and public safety have expressed their desire to move quickly. That’s what we’re helping to enable today.”

Public Safety Communications

The different State Plans will be provided through an online portal, which can be used for about 45 days for reviewing the plans by the states and territories. There is also the opportunity for each of the state or territory governor to provide feedback with FirstNet™ before the prescribed 90-day time. AT&T® and FirstNet™ will commence the immediate delivery of the services after the governors decide to opt-in on its State Plans.

As per Ed Davis, former Boston police commissioner, “The need to save lives in the field is a reality for all of our first responders across all of our communities. Public safety can’t serve our communities without coordinated communications capabilities. The mission to deliver this is at the core of the network that FirstNet™ and AT&T® are bringing forward.”
