AT&T And GM Fleet Declare New Connectivity Proposals For Business Customers

New Connectivity Proposals

AT&T and General Motors (GM) Fleet have declared several proposals for integrating high-speed 4G LTE internet connectivity in their vehicles. For business customers, the new plans proposed by the two companies will assist in significantly altering the in-vehicle experience. The service is expected to roll out by June and will enable the activation of OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspots for customers having GM Fleet corporate accounts in their cars, truck, and other vehicles. Besides that, it would also provide them with the facility for sharing unlimited data as well as in receiving invoices with centralized billing.

Some of the best internet data plans offered by AT&T have already facilitated numerous advantages for GM Fleet customers having the OnStar 4G LTE equipped in their GMC, Chevrolet, Cadillac, and Buick vehicles. The features of 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot in the vehicles consists of highly secured connections that are extendable up to seven smartphones, laptops, and tablets. Moreover, increased connection range enables vehicles to link with the hotspot from a distance of about 50 feet as well as in sharing real-time information in the field.

Ed Peper, U.S. vice president of GM Fleet, said at the GM Fleet Solutions Summit in Las Vegas that, “Customers using an OnStar 4G LTE connections can help make their company vehicle drivers more customer-focused and productive, so the growth potential is huge. Working with AT&T, we will enable our business customers to receive all the benefits of high-speed connectivity with more flexibility and less paperwork using the shared unlimited data plan capability.”

The collaboration with AT&T has also made considerable improvements in the connectivity systems like better functionality. For GM Fleet customers, this will enable them to access the unlimited cheap internet data plans as well as the data pooling facility across the vehicles. It also allows the customers to use corporate invoicing for including vehicle plans to existing AT&T corporate accounts.

Internet Integrated Vehicles

Joe Mosele, vice president for IoT Solutions at AT&T said, “With this capability, businesses can more quickly and more securely share data, better attend to customers, boost productivity and maximize efficiencies. This will be transformative for companies that need to get things done outside the office. It’s just the beginning of new enterprise options that we plan to bring to business customers.”

General Motors unveiled the OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi service back in 2014 and they have become highly successful by equipping this facility across 5 million vehicles. The new proposal with AT&T will enable GM to deploy the services to more vehicles.
