AT&T And Samsung Offering Free 48-Inch Samsung Smart TV

AT&T’s Promotion

Dreamt of getting a free 48-inch Samsung Smart TV? AT&T is giving you that chance, as long as you qualify for their new promotion through the month of April. There are, of course, a few caveats when it comes to qualifying, but what promotion of this sort doesn’t have them?

You will mainly need to get three things (none cheap, but all mostly worth the price): AT&T service, a Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge, and DirecTV service. Since last year AT&T owns DirecTV, which means it is natural for the company to try and urge its uptake, not that there is much urging needed. But it is the best answer to rival Dish’s recent $250 deal for people who boot DirecTV. Staying with it is an even better idea, AT&T will definitely leave make a difference to the direction the Dish vs DirecTV spat is headed.

These are the people who will qualify for the free TV:

  • Current AT&T customers making an upgrade to a Galaxy S7 device on AT&T’s Next device payment plan, and then getting DirecTV
  • Existing DirecTV customers signing up for AT&T service, and selecting the Galaxy S7 on a Next plan

What it comes down to is that you should have all three things, one of them new, and you will get a 48-inch plasma TV. That means you wouldn’t qualify if you are already an AT&T customer upgrading to the Galaxy S7, and already have DirecTV service. The promotion page on AT&T’s official website also states the requirement that the new service should remain active for 60 day, and it is in these 60 days that you should file any claims for a TV.

When you read the fine print, it shows the market price of the Samsung Smart TV $449, and mentions that the product has a 4-star rating on Amazon, with about 1,400 reviews. To place the claim, there is some paperwork you will need to fill out, and then upload a copy of the receipt to the promo page after the deal has gone live.

The deal is indicative of the extents to which satellite carriers will go to remain a customer preference. They are definitely not the first to offer electronic products to get new customers. Take T-Mobile for instance, they have just announced an iPhone promotion where the buying one of the devices at full price gets customers another for half price.
