DirecTV Brings Back ‘The Bridge’ To Latin American Screens

Latin American Channels

DirecTV has successfully acquired the rights for the third season of the award winning Scandinavian thriller TV show Bron/Broen (The Bridge). The first two seasons of this engaging series was broadcasted on DirecTV earlier and it resulted in huge success, which has kept the fans anticipated for the third season of the series. The deal signed between DirecTV and the distributors ZDF Enterprises from Germany has made the series available to around 140 countries. The show is coproduced by Danish broadcaster DR and Swedish pubcaster SVT.

Willard Tressel, general manager of OnDirecTV said, “OnDirecTV has a history of curating top international scripted content and Bron is rightly considered one of very best, groundbreaking series.” OnDirecTV was the first channel to broadcast Scandinavian thriller to the Latin American audience and made them appreciate the excellent storytelling of the “Scandinavian noir” content. DirecTV has also secured the rights for another award winning series “The Killing” from ZDF enterprise in the past.

The Executive VP and COO, Fred Burcksen stated that, “We are glad to see the global success of BRON/BROEN continue with a brilliant third season. DIRECTV is the appropriate home for the series in Latin America and we are pleased that BRON|BROEN works so well for them.” DirecTV Latin America is the best satellite provider that brings unique and excellent experience to the Latin American audience and a long-term partnership has been cemented between DirecTV Latin America and ZDF Enterprises.

Sofia Helin, Rafael Pettersson, and Dag Malmberg are the main cast members of “The Bridge”. The plot revolves around the search for a killer who left a body on the bridge, which is exactly on the border between Denmark and Sweden. Danish Inspector Martin Rohde and Swedish inspector Saga Noren are forced to set aside their differences and work together to capture the killer.

A well-written realistic story, incredible performance from the cast, and an engaging way of storytelling with surprising moments, are a few reasons why the Latin American audience has shown great likeness to this epic show. The creator of the show, Hans Rosenfeldt, expressed his desire to launch the fourth season for “The Bridge”, but there hasn’t been any official confirmation regarding the continuation of the series.
