President Trump Praises Charter Communications

In a recently held Oval Office ceremony, President Donald Trump claimed that the telecom giant, Charter Communications has agreed to invest $25 billion after he won the presidential election. He added that the telecom company has also promised to add 20,000 jobs in the country.

President Trump said that Charter’s decision is actually the latest example of companies “that have recently announced billions of dollars in investment and thousands of jobs coming into the United States following my election victory.”

However, reports from several sources claim that Charter Communication had already agreed to add 20,000 jobs nearly two years ago. The telecom company made this announcement before two years to win federal and state approval for their merger with Time Warner Cable and for the purchase of Bright House Networks.

Reports said that Charter CEO Tom Rutledge had earlier stated that the telecom company would relocate their overseas call center jobs to the country. He also added that this move is actually a part of their efforts to improve the service quality. He had also added that the company will need 20,000 new employees.

Rutledge said, “Quality can save you money, so we are believers in hiring people to work for us and not sending calls offshore hiring actual employees and training and investing in them as opposed to contractors.”

A corporate release from Charter said, “We understand the importance of demonstrating why the transactions are in the public interest, which is why we continue to engage with regulators, stakeholders and the public about the benefits New Charter will bring to customers — including fast unlimited broadband, increased broadband buildout, a commitment to the Open Internet, innovative video services and 20,000 new jobs, including thousands of jobs brought back to the United States.”

The White House recently issued a press release, which stated that, “President Trump Delivers on Jobs for the American People” that not just touted the 20,000 jobs, but specifically noted that Charter “will be opening a brand new call center in McAllen, Texas, where the company will create 600 new American jobs.”
