Charter Communications Expand Reach Of Nomorobo Call Blocker

Spectrum Voice Customers

Charter Communications has recently revealed that they will offer Nomorobo an app that will block the unwanted robocalls and telemarketing calls in the legacy systems of Charter. This app was already available to users in the former Time Warner Cable system that was acquired by Charter in May 2016. Charter Communications’ Spectrum Voice customers will be able to stop unsolicited calls with this call blocking application.

Charter joined hands with Nomorobo to introduce the call blocking app in their effort to decrease the concerns over robocalls. The company is part of FCC’s Robocall Strike Force, which is an industry-led group that is focused speeding up the adoption of latest tools and technologies to cut out robocalls.

The third party call blocking application blocks the automated calls from telemarketers making use of a list of known unwanted phone numbers. The app also makes use of the “Do Not Call” Registry to find unwanted and unsolicited phone numbers. The call will ring on the home line of the user and the Nomorobo platform the same time. If the platform finds that the call is from an unwanted number, it will block the call immediately.

Telemarketing Calls

Even though the app blocks automated calls, it does allow some automated calls to get through. These calls include school closings, tornado warnings, reminders of doctor’s appointments, and prescription pickup alerts. Charter said that Spectrum Voice customers could activate the feature by following the instructions that are shared on the official website of Nomorobo.

In a blog post, FCC chairman Tom Wheeler, said that telemarketing calls and robocalls are the number one source of user complaints. He also added that FCC have sent letters to the CEOs of many phone companies calling on them to offer automated call blocking services to users ASAP at no extra charges.

“Customers now have even more control over the calls that come into their homes,” said Rich DiGeronimo, who is the s executive vice president of Charter for products and strategy. “Nomorobo is one of the many ways we continue to enhance customers’ home phone experience with unmatched reliability and service in addition to a wide range of popular advanced phone features available at no extra cost.”
