Dish And Sony Channels Go Online

Dish Channels

Now you can watch traditional TV channels without a cable box or satellite dish. Wondering how? Both Dish’s Sling TV and Sony’s PlayStation VUE offers online services to make that happen.

PlayStation VUE

In the PlayStation basic package, you will get more than 50 cable and over the air channels for just $40 a month. The channels include ABC, Fox, CBS, Telemundo, and NBC. Though there will be no PBS or CW, cable channels would include ESPN, AMC, and CNN. You can pay extra for additional channels. However, when compared to traditional cable TV, prices aren’t that cheap.

After the broadcast ends VUE’s DVR lets you pause, rewind and fast forward. Nevertheless, there is unlimited storage the shows expire after 28 days. But there is one thing; you can’t skip the commercials as the fast forwarding button is disabled.

To sign up, you would need a Sony PlayStation or Amazon Fire TV device, but after that, you can watch some of the shows with an iPhone or iPad. The service supports simultaneous viewing on multiple devices.

In the national package of VUE, the cable channels are offered at $30 a month. Shows from ABC, Fox, and NBC are available on demand the next day. However, it is difficult to get local news. Everything else is otherwise similar to the basic package.

Sling TV

Dish Sling TV

In the Sling TV basic package, you get 26 channels, including ESPN, AMC, and CNN for $20 a month. The main drawback of sling TV is that it offers no DVR. The interface also looks primitive; though sling promises a major revamp this year, which looks quite promising.

The nationwide service is available on a variety of gadgets including mobile devices like Apple, Amazon, Android and PCs like Windows and Mac.

Sling TV is also a multi device package because it lets you stream on three devices at a time. The service offers up to 30 channels and costs up to $20 a month. You get FX or Fox in the main package, but you don’t get Disney or ESPN.

To get all the channels you would have to buy both the packages at $20 although some channels are available with both the services. Nevertheless, Sling is saying its offering flexibility with this, especially to those who only want one or the other packages.
