Dish Network And One World Sports End Affiliation

One World Sports

There is disappointing news for the supporters of New York Cosmos, as the club’s exclusive broadcaster, One World Sports, has announced that their channels will not be available Dish Network channel list anymore. As per the experts of One World Sports, they offered to extend their deal for a short period, but Dish declined it. It seems that the friction between the two firms is over the desire of Dish for Most Favored Nations (MFN) provisions.

“With an insistence on MFN terms that were imbalanced relative to the network’s carriage, our preference was to provide another in a series of short-term extensions while we worked through a new agreement reflecting our limited availability to DISH subscribers,” ONE World Sports spokesperson said. “Regrettably, DISH declined an extension, and we were forced to make the difficult decision to discontinue carriage with DISH at this time.”

ONE World Sports was hoping to make a deal with Dish Network that would place them in a traditional domestic sports offering. “ONE World Sports was seeking carriage in a domestic sports package, and in HD across all of its platforms, rather than continue to be packaged as an ethnic channel, and in SD,” said the spokesperson.

Dish Network End Affiliation

“It is our desire for the network to have carriage on DISH with packaging consistent with, and in a format, where fans look for live sports content. ONE World Sports welcomes the opportunity to continue the dialogue with DISH and pursue opportunities to create a mutually beneficial partnership for carriage of the network in the future.”

Fans should also notice that end of agreement will mean that One World Sports’ NASL game of the week and Cosmos games will no longer be available on Sling TV, which is the streaming service of Dish Network. “While we know this is the best business decision for our network, we deeply regret how this may impact our viewers, especially the New York Cosmos fans, and their ability to watch all the home and away matches; NASL Game of the Week and NASL This Week highlight show,” the network spokesperson explained.

The network also hopes to announce their new partnerships in the future. “It is our goal to be available to as many homes as possible and we are working diligently on adding distribution partners that will contribute to the overall growth of the network. We expect to be making some additional affiliate and programming announcements in the next month.”
