Offering easy and quick fixes to their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetripleplay.net\/blog\/centurylink-inc-is-looking-for-the-next-multibillion-dollar-merger\/\">internet offload needs<\/a> or cheaper connections is not just enough to be successful in the arena.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He added that SD-WAN is part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetripleplay.net\/blog\/different-plans-offered-by-centurylink-internet-services\/\">customer network transformation<\/a>, which need to be tailored carefully for it to be successful in the long run. A number of factors like the availability of resources, transportation, type of application, and the nature of the user can determine the way the service needs to be set up.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe typical engagement starts with \u2018I want to reduce the cost of my network while increasing my availability,\u2019\u201d Grubbs said. \u201cThe challenge when you start looking into that situation is that there is more than just that to it.\u201d He further added that the danger here is the unrealistic user expectation, and said, \u201cA lot of people think they&#8217;ll get 80% reduction in TCO\u201d by switching traffic to an SD-WAN from dedicated MPLS links. \u201cOnce they have grabbed on to that, it is hard to reset expectations,\u201d so it&#8217;s better to realize from the outset that \u201cif it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2077\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetripleplay.net\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2077\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2077\" class=\"wp-image-2077 size-medium\" title=\"CenturyLink\u00ae Internet\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetripleplay.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Best-Internet-e1484219118916-300x204.jpg\" alt=\"Internet Providers\" width=\"300\" height=\"204\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thetripleplay.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Best-Internet-e1484219118916-300x204.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thetripleplay.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Best-Internet-e1484219118916.jpg 684w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2077\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em><strong>Dedicated MPLS Links<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A part of the long-term engagement strategy of CenturyLink<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> is to work with the user to make them see SD-WAN as part of a larger transformation of the networking services that they use and design them to meet the requirements of the user in a non disruptive way.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt\u2019s about how do I transform the customer to this new technology in a way that they are confident it is not going to disrupt them, it is not going to distract them, and they are not going to have outages, not only through that transformation but through the operational life of the technology,\u201d Grubbs said. \u201cThe evolution to SD-WAN is exactly that.
