AT&T Donates $5000 To Columbia State Community College

One of the leading internet providers in United States, AT&T, recently presented a $5,000 donation to the Columbia State Community College. This incredible gesture was made by the telecom provider in order to support the under-served, non-traditional Tennessee community college students, who are preparing for jobs that require technology-based skills.

The donation made by the Telco will fund scholarships, which will help students to acquire their college degrees and to find a job gradually. The Columbia State president, Dr. Janet F. Smith said, “Support from the business community is so important as we work to advance higher education and create a workforce that is ready to meet the needs of Middle Tennessee. The programs this contribution will help fund gives our students the skills required to compete in today’s technology based economy.”

The donation made by AT&T is actually a part of the provider’s $65,000 gift to the Tennessee Board of Regents. This means that each individual community college in the state will be eligible to receive a donation of $5,000. “Our community colleges are instrumental in preparing a workforce that can keep pace with Tennessee’s booming economy.” Senator Joey Hensley said. “AT&T’s commitment to good corporate citizenship, in regards to education, will allow Tennessee’s future workforce to reach its full potential reaping benefits for all Tennesseans.”

AT&T is presenting this gift to the community colleges in order to award scholarship and to motivate students to take part in programs, which are created with an intention to help them succeed in the classroom and to get them well prepared to enter into the workforce.

AT&T’s investment in programs like this exemplifies its commitment to furthering education throughout Tennessee.”
