Assess The Need

One of the best internet providers in the United States, Cox Communications, recently awarded a $2,500 grant to “Assess the Need”, Livingston Parish’s annual school supply campaign. This was the telecom company’s first awarding of funds through the Cox Charities, which is an employee-funded nonprofit organization of Cox Communications.

The employee-giving campaign, which is popularly referred to as “Give Where You Live”, was launched by the telecom company during the fall of 2015. The active members of this new campaign stressed that each dollar that was raised in a certain market will stay within the same market and it will not be passed on to another market.

The funds raised by the local employees were allocated for programs within West Baton Rouge parishes, Livingston, Iberville, East Feliciana, East Baton Rouge, and Ascension.

The senior vice president and region manager for Cox Southeast, Anthony Pope said, “Cox Charities is both funded and guided by employees. A local team of 12 dedicated employees read through every application and determined how the dollars would be invested back into the communities we serve. Our company and our employees are passionate about supporting programs that positively impact where we do business.”

The founder and sponsor of “Assess the Need”, Livingston Parish Assessor, Jeff Taylor thanked the efforts of his employees for selecting the program. “Each year, Assess the Need helps thousands of students in Livingston Parish receive the school supplies they need to be successful in the classroom,” Taylor said. “We are very grateful to employees of Cox Communications for investing in our students, who are the future of our parish, especially at this time when so many families are still hurting from the loss and devastation of the floods in August.”
