Safari Support Dropped

The latest streaming service launched by AT&T®, DirecTV Now® has become immensely popular among customers over the last few months. However, in a recent statement, the officials from DirecTV Now® streaming service warned users about their internet TV service by stating that they will stop support for Safari® browser on Mac® for streaming video contents by the end of this month.

The officials advised customers who are currently using Safari® to switch to the popular Google Chrome® browser if they wish to stream video contents through a browser on their Mac desktop devices. If you log into DirecTV Now® through Safari®, you will be able to notice a message from the service, which advises about the change in browser support. The message states that the streaming service, DirecTV Now® will only work “exclusively” with Google Chrome® to provide the “best streaming experience” to users.

The message says, “We will no longer be supporting Safari® or Internet Explorer® browsers after June. Of course, the DirecTV Now® app will still be your go-to when streaming on your mobile devices.” The message from DirecTV Now® concludes with two different links. One of them currently allows the user to stream video contents on Safari® while the second link takes the users to another page, where you can download Google Chrome®.

However, the support pages of DirecTV Now® have not mentioned any kind of browser support changes yet, although reports indicated that users will be notified of the changes in the support pages of DirecTV Now® in a week or two. The Help Center pages of DirecTV Now® currently state that the streaming service is compatible with Version 8 of Safari® or later, Google Chrome® from version 50, and Internet Explorer® version 11 or later for Windows®.
