Dish To Plant Trees
Dish just announced that it is going to plant a tree for every current customer that switches to paperless billing. As part of the company’s celebration of Earth month, the e-Bill option will let subscribers receive their bill online instead of in the mail. Trees will be planted by one of the oldest NPOs in the country, American Forests.
Lea Sloan, VP for Communications of the conservation organization, said, “We look forward to working with DISH and its customers to plant thousands of trees together this year,” and added that the move helps minimize waste, as well as contributes to restoring and preserving the forestland in the US. The campaign is set to help American Forests reach its goal of planting 2.5 million trees in 2016. Over the coming months, hundreds of volunteers will participate in planting a variety of trees from native species, in a bid to restore the forest eco system.
Dish Chief Operations Officer, Erik Carlson, stated that this would be a win for all parties, with customers benefitting from the boosted data privacy and simplified billing, and the planting efforts helping preserving important forest areas in the country. “This is a wonderful opportunity to engage DISH customers in our sustainability efforts and make a positive impact on the environment,” he added.
Dish And E-Billing
Dish’s Earth Month campaign is being run by their corporate citizenship program, Dish Cares. Subscribers interested in switching to the e-Bill option can choose to start doing it from the official website. Dish Cares has been set up to serve the communities in places where Dish operates. Started in 2014, it seeks to promote development of the community through engaging employees and protecting the environment through sustainable business practices.
