DirecTV has just signed another carriage deal in order to acquire the rights of A+E Networks. Besides that, AT&T has also expanded their agreements with major companies recently, in order to make the channels available in their latest streaming service, DirecTV Now, which will be available to the subscribers by the end of 2016.
The terms and other details of this deal are still kept hidden by both the companies. However, A+E Networks released a statement stating that all their channels, including Viceland, FYI, LMN, History, A&E, and Lifetime, will be available to the DirecTV Now subscribers.
“We are thrilled to team up with AT&T to offer our brands on the DirecTV Now platform at launch. It’s exciting for A+E Networks to continue to be at the leading front of the technology evolution. DirecTV Now will offer consumers a new way of receiving our content giving our viewers access to our strong portfolio of entertainment brands,” A+E Networks president for distribution, David Zagin, said in a statement.
DirecTV’s parent company, AT&T, has extended their deals with major companies as the launch of their online streaming service is getting near. The telco signed carriage deals with more than four major networks, which offer popular and quality entertaining programs and other contents to the subscribers.
Scripps Networks, Turner, NBC Universal, and Discovery Communications are the other networks who signed a deal with AT&T in the month of September. In addition to this, AMC Networks CEO Josh Sapan also confirmed that all their networks would be available on DirecTV Now.
Moreover, in a recent filing by Securities & Exchange Commission, Starz announced that they have signed a multi-platform deal with AT&T and their offerings will be available on DirecTV Now streaming service as well. AT&T had also entered into agreement with HBO, Disney, and Cinemax.
Dan York, AT&T chief content officer said that, “A+E Networks is a welcome addition to the DirecV Now platform. Customers of our new streaming service will have a wide array of programming choices they can access within minutes by just downloading the app and signing up.”
DirecTV Now will offer subscribers access to approximately 100 popular channels, which provide quality contents, popular TV shows, blockbuster movies and a lot more. DirecTV subscribers are highly anticipated for the launch of DirecTV Now streaming service.
