Streaming TV Channels

Big names are taking huge leaps in order to continue in the current market and to reach out to new markets. AT&T, one of the prime brands in the entertainment and telephone industry, just made a new decision to offer DirecTV packages online. This is a smart move to attract cord cutters, who are looking for pay TV options online.

AT&T announced that their new project would start from the fourth quarter of this year, and enable customers to watch DirecTV packages online without the need of any additional devices. The company is also planning to offer a range of new packages, including one targeted for smartphone users. Moreover, AT&T representatives said that the company would soon offer an advertisement supported package, which will be free to customers.

“We often hear from customers who want more content from streaming services, or who can’t get or can’t afford a traditional pay-TV service. We intend to offer customers a quality pay-TV experience, including top channels, sports and more, with increased value and flexibility of pure online streaming and no need for home installation,” said John Stankey, CEO of AT&T’s Entertainment Group.

AT&T Plans

AT&T is the most recent company to develop bundled online pay TV offering. DirecTV’s archrival, Dish Network already entered the market with their online pay TV service, Sling TV, where other key players like Sony and Apple are also in the game of providing pay TV services. Nevertheless, where other pay TV services are offered with a long-term contract, DirecTV packages are set to come without any contracts and will be available to any one regardless of their wireless or broadband provider. What’s more, AT&T is also planning to make the streaming available in all devices including smart phones, TVs, PCs, and streaming gadgets.

Dish Network offers Sling TV at a base price of $20 per month and additional charge has to be paid for extra set of channels, where Sony charges a base price of $40 per month for PlayStation VUE. However, AT&T is yet to announce the price of their various packages and the list of the specific ones they will offer.
