Fastest Internet Provider

Charging Overage Fees

One of the leading internet providers in the United States, Cox Communications® recently started the practice of charging overage fees to subscribers who cross their monthly data limits in California. Cox® has come a bit more closer to the nationwide deployment of monthly data caps with this new move. Even thought, most of the Cox® customers in California region did have monthly caps, they were pretty much happy with the service. This is because the fastest internet provider, Cox® preferred not to overcharge them for exceeding the monthly data caps.

That’s not the case anymore, as the telecom giant has finally officially declared that they will be charging and additional amount of $10 for each extra block of 50 GB data once the customers exceed their monthly data cap. However, subscribers who have opted for the 1 Gbps “Gigablast” service of Cox® before September 26, 2017, will get access to unlimited data plans at zero additional charges whereas all other Cox® customers in California will have a monthly data cap of 1 TB.

Even though Cox® subscribers in some other states of the country will be able to get access to unlimited monthly data by paying an extra amount of $50, this option is not yet available to Cox® customers in California. This means that the customers of Cox® in Santa Barbara, San Diego, Palos Verdes, and Orange County will not be able to use unlimited monthly data anymore.

The telecom giant started to enforce monthly data caps and overage fees in Oklahoma, Ohio, Nevada, Nebraska, Massachusetts, Louisiana, Kansas, Iowa, Idaho, Georgia, Florida, Connecticut, Arkansas, and Arizona a few weeks ago. On the other hand, customers in Virginia, Rhode Island, and North Carolina who have subscribed to the internet service of Cox® currently have caps but they do not have to pay any sort of additional fee to the provider.

However, reports from several reliable sources claim that the telecom company will shortly begin to charge additional fees from these customers too once they cross their monthly data limit. Cox®, who is one of the best internet providers in the country currently, operates in approximately 18 states of the country and they have over 6 million business and residential customers, thanks to the attractive TV, internet, and home phone deals offered by the provider.
